Idea 1: University Societies Platform
❔What’s the problem?
According to User Research conducted in 2025:
- Students find difficulty in socialising within the University due to perceived lack of information of social / society events.
- 30% of students were dissatisfied with their overall society experience.
- More than a third (38%) of students found society advertising to be inaccurate / misleading.
- Communication of student societies is largely facilitated through means outside of the University / university presence, raising potential concerns of safety / misconduct (issues with bots and scams).
- According to the Net Promoter Score, students are unlikely to actively recommend societies as they currently stand. This is due to issues with of society discoverability, as while as the poor usability of the UUSU website.
Why does this matter?
- Loneliness creates stress, as well as difficulty in engaging with others due to imposter syndrome, social anxiety and class engagement (lower grades).
❕Solution
A unified platform for societies and event discovery and union participation.
